Details on recycling
- What qualifies to be recycled
Only PC's that are of generally 5-6 years old qualify to be recycled at the Computer Hospital. Parts older than that are not of any use for us to reuse.
- What we do with the old PC
The very first thing we do is "zero" out the hard drive. This goes beyond a normal format and writes "0" to every location on the drive, ensuring that your data is not recoverable in any way. Then the pc is dismantled for parts to be used to build loaner and refurbished systems.
- How to prepare for dropping off your old PC
Make sure that you've transferred all of your useful information off of your old PC to your new one. We can do this for you upon request for a fee of $25. If you're sure that your data is safe, it is a good idea to format the hard drive, or simply remove it from the case. This is the safest way to make sure that your data stays secure.
